If you’ve been following me for awhile you know I LOVE a window. #windowlightisthebestlight is a frequent saying of mine and for me and my work it really is true. When you’re working in hotels a lot of the time having that bouncing of beams is just the thing I look for to add some magic into my shoots. So yeah, if there’s a window, chances are you’re gonna be by it!
Beds on the other hand…well I generally tend to avoid them. My last instinct when taking intimate portraits is to put someone on a bed. Maybe because its so very obvious and obvious isn’t exactly my jam. Maybe because people tend to just kind of sink when they are in them. I don’t really know why but floors and corners and windows and other pieces of furniture are much more interesting and unexpected to my eye.
That being said I wanted to make a conscious effort in this shoot to do some work in the bed as well as stay in my comfort zone of the window. I like a challenge, it’s how I grow as an artist.
This part of the shoot is more explicit. I want to stress that while these images are ‘sexy’ and ‘hot’ and any other words you might think when viewing them the actual process of getting the images is very matter of fact. The images are sexual, but the shoot itself was not. It is a safe place. And it’s not weird if you don’t make it weird by not following the ground rules.
Obviously, Thom fucking rocked it, again.
